SpaceXAI: The New Identity of xAI

xAI is no more. The artificial intelligence company founded by Elon Musk and acquired by SpaceX is now called SpaceXAI. The name change came with a new logo and an update to the company's username on the X platform. SpaceX purchased xAI, including its main chatbot, Grok, in February, unifying Musk's space, AI, and social media products under one roof. On Monday, the xAI profile was renamed SpaceXAI, and a video was shared showing the transformation from the old logo to the new one.

Musk and the Merger of xAI with SpaceX

In May, Musk had already announced that xAI would cease to be a separate company and would be incorporated into SpaceX, with its AI products being rebranded as SpaceXAI. The rebranding comes shortly after SpaceX's historic IPO in June, which raised $75 billion, with a valuation of about $1.77 trillion, briefly making Musk the world's first trillionaire. Although SpaceX is better known for its rockets and extraterrestrial ambitions, the IPO documents revealed how much the company is investing in artificial intelligence.

SpaceX's capital expenditures in AI were $12.7 billion in 2025, more than triple what it spent in its space and connectivity segments, which include Starlink, its satellite internet service. Despite the AI segment being a net loss for the company, SpaceX believes it has the greatest potential, stating that the total addressable market is the largest "in human history." The company plans to launch "AI computing satellites," or data centers in space, as early as 2028.

The Impact of New AI Ventures

SpaceX has also secured some major AI infrastructure deals, with Anthropic agreeing to pay $1.25 billion per month for access to computing power in its Colossus data centers and Google agreeing to pay $920 million per month.
