Goiás Leads with Investment in Artificial Intelligence
Goiás is making a strategic bet by investing R$ 40 million in a new Artificial Intelligence Data Center at the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence of the Federal University of Goiás (Ceia-UFG). This move is not just about technology, but about transforming the state into a hub of innovation in Brazil. Part of this investment is also allocated to a laboratory for autonomous vehicles, showing that Goiás is aiming high.
Ceia-UFG already stands out in Latin America, having attracted R$ 500 million in private investments and generated over 5,000 jobs. With this new cycle of investments, the government of Goiás, under the leadership of Daniel Vilela, plans to elevate the center to a new level. The goal is to expand Ceia's activities from 2026 to 2031, further consolidating the state's position as a reference in artificial intelligence. The partnership with the State Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation (Secti) is crucial for this strategy.
Direct Impact on Companies and Society
Ceia-UFG is not alone on this journey. With over 100 companies as clients, including giants like Google, Vivo, WEG, and Natura, the center develops solutions that impact sectors such as energy, health, logistics, and finance. The technologies created already benefit around 150 million people in Brazil and in countries like Canada and Malaysia. This proves that innovation knows no borders.
Governor Daniel Vilela emphasizes that Goiás is at the forefront of AI. The new phase of investments will not only strengthen the development of innovative solutions for the government but also expand the center's research capacity. This further projects Ceia-UFG on the international stage, attracting new partners and investors.
The Next Step for Goiás
With the new funding from the government, Ceia-UFG will be able to expand its research and implement strategic projects in artificial intelligence. This is vital for both the public sector and the private initiative. Job creation is also part of this equation, with over 5,000 positions already created throughout the center's journey. The next step, according to the governor, is the launch of the Artificial Intelligence Innovation District, a space that promises to attract even more companies to the state.
