Google's Gemini Spark: A New Competitor in the AI Field

Google has finally delivered on its promise and launched Gemini Spark for AI Ultra plan subscribers in the United States. This tool is not just another chatbot, but a personal agent that promises to "work for you" 24 hours a day. The idea is to intelligently automate processes, integrating deeply with the Google Workspace ecosystem and other connected applications. What really stands out is Spark's ability to interact with websites where the user is logged in, even being able to add items to a shopping cart remotely.

With the launch, Gemini Spark gets an exclusive tab called "Spark" in the web version of Gemini. On Android and iOS apps, it occupies a strategic space between search and the daily summary, still in beta. In the workspace, Spark works almost like an office manager. It organizes schedules, suggests meeting times, and manages files in Google Drive. Automation ranges from creating complex spreadsheets to generating complete slide presentations with a simple text command.

In Gmail, the assistant is capable of summarizing long email threads, drafting replies, and organizing everything using labels. A practical feature is the "cleanup," which identifies newsletters and automatically unsubscribes from them. Additionally, Spark offers deep search, delivering personalized news summaries and formatted documents with cited sources.

The Gemini Spark system is based on three pillars: Tasks, Schedules, and Skills. A Task is the ultimate goal, such as planning a trip. The Schedule defines when Spark should act, either at a fixed time or in response to a specific event. Skills are reusable instructions that teach Gemini to use specific tools to complete the work. Imagine your business flight is delayed. Spark can detect this, notify you, and automatically update your itinerary, booking a new hotel room and sending the necessary confirmations without you needing to open your computer.

But it's not all roses. Google has established a limit of 15 simultaneous tasks. If this limit is reached, new schedules will not execute until the current tasks are completed. And there is still no information on when the tool will be available in other territories, including Brazil. The battle with other AI agents, such as Claude, is just beginning, and Google seems determined to lead this race.
