Voice Agent Builder: Revolution in Customer Service
Imagine setting up voice agents without needing to program. It sounds like fiction, but that's exactly what the Voice Agent Builder offers. This platform, still in beta, is aimed at operators and developers who want to create production voice agents without building all the infrastructure from scratch. Everything you need is there: telephony, knowledge retrieval, tools, guardrails, and much more. And best of all, you can integrate all of this with what you already have, whether by bringing existing phone numbers via SIP or connecting your clients via WebSocket.
Most voice stacks today need to combine three different APIs: one for converting speech to text, another for processing language, and a third for turning text into speech. Each step adds cost, latency, and potential failures. The Voice Agent Builder simplifies this by offering a single interface for a speech-to-speech pathway, specifically designed for Grok Voice.
Real Challenges, Real Solutions
We trained Grok Voice with real calls, filled with noise, strong accents, and interruptions. These calls are complex, traverse dozens of tools, and occur in over 25 languages. To ensure our agents are ready for any situation, we use the τ-voice Bench, which measures agent performance under these challenging conditions. Grok Voice Think Fast 1.0, for example, achieved 67.3% on the leaderboard, outperforming competitors like Gemini 3.1 Flash Live and GPT Realtime 1.5.
Two Minutes to an Agent
Setting up an agent is simple: just write a natural language description of how the calls should flow and attach your documents, tools, and guardrails. In about two minutes, you go from zero to a functional agent. The model reasons in real-time, following long instructions and handling ambiguous requests. The agent's knowledge comes from a knowledge base that you can feed with documents in common formats like Word, Excel, and HTML.
