Amazon now allows creating custom merchandise with AI
Amazon took a bold step in product customization. From now on, anyone can create custom merchandise using artificial intelligence. This novelty puts the e-commerce giant in direct competition with platforms like Redbubble, Bonfire, and others of their kind. The idea is simple: you use AI prompts via Alexa in the Amazon shopping app to transform any idea into a design. This design can be printed on a variety of items, from t-shirts to thermoses, thanks to Amazon's Merch on Demand service.
Imagine creating a unique t-shirt for that family reunion or a personalized gift with your dog's picture. Amazon takes care of everything, from production to delivery, using the Prime service. All this without requiring you to have design skills. It's a democratization of product creation, making the process accessible to anyone with an idea in mind.
For now, this feature is only available in the United States. And the best part? It's free, you only pay for the final product. To use it, simply tap the Alexa icon in the Amazon app or search for "customize" in the search bar. From there, you describe your idea to Alexa, which generates the design. If you want, you can even edit and share the result with friends and family.
The list of supported products is extensive: t-shirts, polos, hoodies, tank tops, water bottles, among others. Amazon is making customization as simple as making an online purchase. And, of course, this may not please everyone, especially artists whose work may have been used to train these AI models. But for the average consumer, it's just another purchasing option at their fingertips.
